Rachel Snow is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, and a birth doula currently certifying with DONA International. Rachel is the founder of Makana Mama Massage & Doula. She is a massage therapist specializing in prenatal and postnatal massage. Rounding out her qualifications Rachel’s certificate in holistic care adds to her tool belt for assisting her clients.
Rachel is deeply passionate about assisting her pregnant clients throughout their pregnancy, labor, birth and the postpartum period. She loves all things pregnancy and birth related. Rachel’s philosophy is that she “Mothers the Mother”. She feels that so often the pregnant person is looked at as a vessel, and often forgotten in the excitement of the baby. Rachel aspires to care and comfort her clients so they feel seen, heard, empowered, and not forgotten in the excitement of the baby. For her pregnant clients Rachel offers the belly down pregnancy massage pillow.
Rachel’s love of Mothering the Mother stems from her own labor, birth and postpartum story. She experienced a traumatic birth of her daughter, and suffered from postpartum depression, although didn’t realize that until much later. Due to her own experiences she desires to be the support for others that she wished she had. Rachel enjoys getting to know, and connecting with her clients, and creating a relationship.
Rachel lives in Westminster with her daughter, partner, and bonus daughter. She loves to read, listen to podcasts about birth, spend time with friends and family, enjoy Colorado, cook, and refurbish furniture. Rachel is a Colorado native, and also lived on Kauai in Hawaii for six years. Her love and connection to Kauai inspired her business name, Makana. Makana means gift or reward in Hawaiian, and it is also a mountain on the north shore of Kauai located within the sacred Limahuli Gardens. Rachel loves to travel especially to Hawaii, and anywhere tropical.
